The F40 was built in celebration of Ferrari’s 40th anniversary in 1987, and was a blistering homage to speed. It was the last car personally approved by Enzo Ferrari himself, it was designed by Pininfarina and built by a small team of Ferrari’s finest engineers.

While other manufacturers were launching cars that provided their occupants all the creature comforts that could be expected of a luxury saloon, Ferrari presented the world with a car that strived for such performance that they even limited the amount of paint on the carbon fibre bodywork. If you look closely at an original F40 you can see the carbon weave beneath the paint. That is, if you can find one! With less than 1400 built, the F40 is a very sought after car, and has held records for the most expensive car ever sold a number of times.
